Troubleshooting Sand Screening Machines: How to Fix Belt Deviation and Loosening

Recently, many friends have reached out to Xiao Gen for advice on maintaining sand screening machines. So today, we are going to address the issues you care about and want to understand the most during your production process.

Issue 1: What should I do if the sand screener belt deviates?
Do not worry. Gen Tong has already considered and solved this problem during the research and manufacturing stages. There is an adjusting device right below the screening hopper. When the belt misaligns, simply adjust it one unit towards the direction of the deviation, and the issue will be resolved.

Issue 2: What if the conveyor belt becomes loose after prolonged use?
There is no need to be anxious about this either, as Gen Tong has an easy solution. When the belt shows signs of loosening, locate the protruding adjustment screws at both ends of the waste discharge outlet. Simply pull and tighten the screws backward, and the belt will naturally regain its tension.

Rotary Drum Sand Screening Machine

For beginners, let Xiao Gen introduce some basic knowledge first: Sand screening machines, also known as dryland sand screening boats or gravel separators, are essential equipment widely used in rivers, reservoirs, and coal yards for sand and gravel separation. They mainly consist of a hull, frame, reducer, conveyor belt, rotary screen, engine, and motor. The equipment features a simple structure, economic applicability, and easy operation. Currently, the market mainly offers rotary drum sand screeners, water-washing rotary drum sand screeners, and vibrating sand screeners.

Application Fields of Sand Screening Machines

Next, let us dive deeper into how to systematically adjust persistent conveyor belt deviation on a sand screening machine:

Adjust the position of the driving pulley and the redirecting pulley: Adjusting these pulleys is a crucial step in fixing belt misalignment. Since a belt conveyor has at least 2 to 5 pulleys, all pulley installation positions must be perpendicular to the centerline of the conveyor's longitudinal direction. If the skew is too large, deviation will inevitably occur. The adjustment method is similar to that of the idler roller sets.
For the head pulley, if the belt deviates to the right side, the right bearing housing should be moved forward; if the belt deviates to the left side, the left bearing housing should be moved forward. Correspondingly, you can also move the left or right bearing housing backward. The adjustment method for the tail pulley is exactly the opposite of the head pulley.

Adjust the carrying idler roller sets: If the belt deviates in the middle of the entire conveyor, you can adjust the position of the idler roller sets to correct it. During manufacturing, the mounting holes on both sides of the idler sets are processed into slotted holes for easy adjustment. The specific method is: whichever side the belt deviates to, move that side of the idler set forward in the direction of the belt's travel, or move the other side backward.

Adjustment at the tensioning location: Adjusting the belt tensioning area is a vital step in fixing belt deviation. The two redirecting pulleys above the heavy hammer tensioner must not only be perpendicular to the belt's length direction but also perpendicular to the vertical line of gravity, ensuring their axis centerlines are completely horizontal.
When using spiral tensioning or hydraulic cylinder tensioning, the two bearing housings of the tensioning pulley should be translated simultaneously to ensure the pulley axis is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the belt. The specific adjustment logic is similar to the pulley adjustments mentioned above.
English Concluding Remark
